To try them is to love them. Other reviews say it all, but I want to emphasize that the fit is terrific for big waist/small butt/small thigh (older) women as well as the more fortunately proportioned. I was reluctant to try them because it is hard for me to find a good fit. They have wonderful fre... Read More

Great shorts. Strong fabric, good fit - a little hard to pull on over the hips, but once they're on, great! But "uniform red"? Sorry, but no. Better put: "signal orange" "hunter's cadmium" or maybe "construction coral"? I should have paid more attention to the color on my computer monitor than the inaccurate descriptor.

I've been wearing Original G shorts and pants for twenty years or so. They are great for hiking, climbing, and lounging and are good enough looking for dinners out. I like the deep pockets and easy fit, and they are quite durable.

Tough and comfortable. Roomy enough for sporting activities that require lots of leg stretching (like bouldering). I am 5' 5" and 138 lbs. I chose medium, which is plenty large. Could probably fit in small, but I think it would be close.

Love the colors. Bought them in turquoise and orange, and came back for them in the red. Well made, and built to last. I haven't washed them yet, but if they fade, they will have a good look that way as well. My only complaint is the belt. I have never liked the style. But I will deal with that. These shorts sit at true waist, I am a size 8 and I bought the medium for a comfortable fit.

The Gramicci hiking and climbing shorts are my all time favorites. Living in Florida I wear shorts most of the year. They are the most comfortable shorts I've ever owned. They are tough as nails. I would highly recommend this shorts especially to those who are active.

    • Answer These shorts will have an inseam of 6" so they will be short in all sizes. Gramicci does run slightly large so a small should work for you.

    • Answer These shorts come to about 3" above my knee and I am 5'5" and 137lbs. I wear a size 8 in jeans so I ordered the M. If you have a straight figure(not hour glass) and good legs, the S should fit you because they are a little baggy…. hope this helps :-)

    • Answer I am 5'5" and 137lbs. I wear a size 8 in jeans most of the time. I ordered M because I have a thicker waist. I could have squeezed a S up over my hips but I think the shorts would have been a little tight and I wanted them for freedom of movement when hiking. Hope this helps :-)

    • Answer I would order a small if I were you. I comfortably wear a size 12, and the medium fits fine. The shorts are very roomy and I'd guess you'll be swimming in a medium. Good length - I do not like my shorts too short, and these were on the longer side for me - I'm only 5'-3", so they may be fine for you.

Asked on 3/27/2010 12:00:00 AM by Lisa the Poodlemom from Dubin, VA
    • Answer I would recommend ordering an XL, since there's a belt you can adjust the waist if needed.

    • Answer These tend to run a little larger in the past few years. I would get a large. I also wear a 16 and the large are a good fit.

    • Answer I am returning the pair I just bought due to sizing. I usually wear a 10. I bought an M and was swimming in them. My waist is about 31 and hips about 39. If I were you, I sure wouldn't get the XL. Hope it helps.
