After reading the review, I went with a small instead of my usual medium, as most said they ran big. I was excited because they come in different inseams and petites are rare on STP. I can look at the pants and feel the hips and thighs would fit, but I can't get the waist over my upper thighs (I have a muscular and slightly overweight build). I'm too chicken to try the mediums. I like them but not enough for the gamble. These are going back. The fabric and all is great, they would be a great casual, outdoor pant if not for the fit.

Reviewed by pmr from wisconsin on Thursday, April 25, 2013i cannot rate these because i did not keep the pants. i followed the measuring guidelines very carefully and ordered extra large based on that. i was skeptical but ordered accordingly. the pants were much too large. i gave them to a friend rather than have the hassle of sending them back. she liked them very much. she is larger than i am and the fit was good for her.

Question “What is the difference between the "original" and the "vintage" gramicci womens pants?”

Answer The Original is a straight leg pant and the Vintage is a tapered leg pant.

Question “If I normally wear a size 16, is there any size in Gramicci that would fit me? From the sizing chart, it looks like XL is only a 14.”

Answer Actually we made a sizing adjustment with this style and the XL is a 16-18.

Question “Does this have a back pocket? On the gramicci website it is shown without one, though the men's pants have a back pocket.”

Answer These have a velcro closure pocket on the right side in back.

Question “This says cotton pant but another Gramicci Dourada Pant says cotton twill? Is there a difference? If so, which one would you recommend?”

Answer "twill" is just the weave pattern, cotton is still cotton.

Answer These are more like a lightweight canvas fabric. The twill versions are a diagonal weave, and the twill is softer, more like classic chino pants. I have several pairs of both fabrics -- the twill is softer, almost feels like flannel after a couple of years of wearing and washing, BUT it is not as tough as the regular cotton weave of this model -- I tore one pair of the twills when I wore them hiking and caught them on a twig (in fairness, they were 8 years old and worn pretty thin by then). The twill has a nicer drape and you can wear them to the office like you would regular chinos. The plain cotton has a more rugged and canvassy outdoor look, more like jeans or cargo pants.

Answer It's a twill that's been peached and is substantial in weight - kind of like a denim.

Answer As a weaver, I think I can help. Both descriptions are correct. Cotton is the fiber and twill is the specific weave of the cloth. If you look at the cloth, the woven pattern seems to have a slightly diagonal slant and is woven by passing the thread over and/or under two or more threads; as opposed to the weave in a handkercheif which is over one thread, under the next. This twill weave gives the fabric much more flexibility, better drape, and greater ability to recover after stress and helps the pants keep their shape even after much bending and climbing. This weave is also one of the reason the Gramicci Douranda Pants are so comfortable.

Question “I love these pants, but I'm hesitant to buy them here because this summer I purchased Gramicci shorts and the fit was all over the map - in one color the small fit fine, and in another the small was huge. And the fabric was very different from color to color, too. Are these also seconds, and is the fit likely to be true? Thank you for your time. Barbara”

Answer These are not seconds, but Gramicci sizing is different with each model. These are all the same fabric, but the fit may be the old fashion, not so flattering Gramicci fit.
