I'm in the middle of my first trip with this bag and overall I am very pleased. It is lightweight, rolls easily and fit more than I thought it would when I first saw it. The fabric and color are nice and the small backpack is comfortable enough on my back.

I had wanted to try carrying both pieces on the plane but my friends chose to request gifts of jam, so I had to check the larger part.

However, I have noticed a few things that would have made this bag so much more functional and easy to use:

    1. The only pocket inside the backpack seems to be for a laptop, but it is way against your back and the zipper is in the front and does not open very far down, so it was actually kind of difficult to get my laptop out at the security check. It would have been really nice if they had fixed this issue.

All the zippers are a little harder to work than they should be. When I zipped the two pieces together to go to the airport, the zipper started separating on one side. It was still well attached, so I left it like that until I had to take the big piece off to check it. Then it was kind of difficult to detach it.

The zippers have a little cover over them, which is nice for rain, but it makes them harder to open than they should be.

Just initial impressions- haven't used it yet. Seems very well-built, with some handles reinforced by the buckled compression straps, and it's lighter than I anticipated. The wheels look to be field-replaceable, and the backpack straps are built more heavily than expected- but they use denser, more firmly molded pads inside that may turn out to be a bit uncomfortable with a light t shirt. The removable backpack has stiffening foam inside that makes it great as flight luggage, but also makes it a bit bulky on your back around town. Really like it, so I'm going to try and live with the fact that (mine) MEASURES CLOSE TO 24" TALL when standing on it's wheels. It can't be compressed down because of handle moldings. If you're determined to have no carry-on issues on any airline you may want to look elsewhere- but this is a very sweet piece of luggage.

This bag is carry on if the backpack is detached.
We recently went Peru with these bags. It rained during the dry season much more than expected. My passport and electronics remained dry in the day backpack portion. Stands up correctly even though I packed a little more than I should have.

This is two bags in one. The front two sections are a zip off backpack. So it separates into two pieces a carry on back pack for under the seat and a carry on suitcase to go in the overhead bin. You can put them back together when you get off the plane. There is much more to this bag too. I am ready to take a trip.
