This pack is perfect for a lightweight backpacker from anywhere from a weekend to a couple week trip. The side access to the main compartment is awesome. Suspension system couldn't be more comfortable and keeps my back cool!

this is a amazing pack love it and would never trade for any other pack. This pack was given the best all around pack for weekender on [@], but honestly this pack is big enough to do a week comfortably with a heavy load. This pack will suite anybodys needs out in the wood. Only con is there is no rain cover that comes with it.

I got this pack as a high school graduation present for my little brother who wants to get into backpacking. Probably not the best starter pack, as it is on the smaller side and won't be able to carry as much of the older/heavier hand-me-down gear he will have to use for a while, but I wanted him to have something versatile in case he doesn't use it for backpacking all the time. This is small enough that you could compress it down and get away with using it for long dayhikes, especially if you're the only one carrying a pack, or backcountry skiing (another thing he wants to get into). Overall, it seems well made despite it's lightness. I've always been partial to Gregory packs--I have several (including the first generation of this pack--the G50) and they've all held up wonderfully. The fabric is durable and slightly water repellent, and the grey color is nice. I love the large external pocket for stuffing jackets, etc. in, and the waistband pockets are indispensable. I prefer 'one-compartment' packs like this that you can pack like a big stuff sack, although the curved back for the ventilation system does provide a slight obstacle for packing. My main gripe with this pack, though, is that there are no external sleeves/pockets for water bottles. I know most people, especially ultralight packers, use hydration bladders now, but you usually want a bottle of some sort along, or somewhere to put your fuel bottle, etc. But, if that's not a concern to you, this is a great pack.

"National Geographic Adventure says 'the tough, top-loading Z55 is the smartest, most versatile pack out there.' 'Large' is 3660 cu. in. (60 liter) and weighs 3.5 lb. Mange Takk!
