I love this pack already. The airflow on your back is revolutionary, and it rides securely, with great stability and confidence, while still flexing enough to make it comfy. I also love the horseshoe-shaped zipper that lets you open the main compartment all the way up. The sternum strap slides up and down on these awesome rail thingies - it's the best sternum strap design I've seen. The mid-sized capacity is perfect for most multi-day hikes and minimalist weeklong-plus excursions.

Great price on a great pack. Very comfortable up to 40 lbs, wouldn't go much beyond that. I like the simpicity of the compartments so I don't lose my gear in a million pockets. Would like to have a sleeping bag access zipper, but I can make do without it.
    • Best Uses: Day Hikes, Extended Hikes, Heavy Loads
    • Cons: No Sleeping Bag Zipper, Not Enough Pockets
    • Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer
    • Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Load, Good Suspension, Large Capacity

I've been happy using my Gregory Z-35 as a day pack, and airline carry on. I wanted something that would work for multi day treks. This Z-65 does it all with comfort and style. It fits under the seat on even the small planes, but you can tie a tent and a sleeping bag on and go for several nights with all the gear/food you'll need safe inside. I have to say Gregory makes a comfortable, great quality product.

  • Question “Is this sized/appropriate for women? What is the difference between this and a women's pack? Thanks!”

    • Answer Most women specific pack have contoured waist belts to fit a woman's body type better. Gregory Z65 Backpack is a unisex pack, so it will have no gender specific features.

    • Answer No separate sleeping bag compartment for the Z65.
Answered on 4/28/2010 12:00:00 AM by Urban Traveler from STL, MO
    • Answer This pack does not have a separate sleeping bag compartment. That's a feature I would prefer, but found that the pack has plenty of room for my bag and the front access panel makes getting to it a pretty simple matter.
Answered on 5/1/2010 12:00:00 AM by John Three Sixteen from Central Pennsylvania
    • Answer There are ties on the bottom of the pack if you wanted to put things underneath. I usually put the sleeping bag inside my packs at the bottom to keep them better packed and dry. This pack should work well for packing inside sleeping bag, tent and fly, and enough room for clothes, stoves, etc. for a 3-4 day trip. Of course, if you're going with others you could split things up for a week plus trip.

  • Question “I am 5'7", size 10, 150 lb female...wanting a backpack for a 3 day trip .....do you think this Large Gregory pack would be my size or do you think a size Medium would be better....or is this way too big for a 3 day trip???|Thank you!”
Asked on 4/14/2010 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
    • Answer It is important to measure yourself for a backpack as wearing a pack that is too small or too big can make your experience miserable.|Once you find your fit this is a good pack, honestly for a 3 day trip you could even go with a smaller bag and pack lighter.|Please refer to our backpacking buyer's guide to instruct you how to measure yourself correctly.|http://www.sierratradingpost.com/lp2/backpack-guide.html|Enjoy!
