It's weird. I don't have anything bad to say about this spork, but everyday I reached into my kit, I would choose a fixed utensil over this slider every time. When I was tired, hungry and just want food and sleep, I found myself not wanting to deal with the bits of chow that get stuck in a mechanical spork. I guess some things are already simple enough. Making them slide doesn't improve them.

I don't know that I would've bought a telescoping spoon individually, but the ultralight foon I have came with a hallulite kettle/cooking set from GSI. The telescoping feature can be a detraction if you're hard on the spoon or eating a particularly dense bag of camping glop (or sporking a Clif bar?), but it's perfect for light camp grub like oatmeal, ramen, couscous, etc. Easy to clean, easy to store.
