This is a simple but excellent raincoat. No bells or whistles. It is a shell and therefore light weight. There are no pit zips. The hood does not detach. However, it is well made and I like the simplicity. I plan to wear it in the suburbs and in the country.

It's lightweight. I didn't try it for performance because it was so crinkly and noisy and plasticky. If you only want to keep dry breathably it probably works, and the price is cheap, but i opted for something that cost a bit more and is more wearable for everyday use.

I love how lightweight this jacket is and the quality of the construction. It's the lightest rain jacket I've ever tried on, and fit and coverage is good. Ventilation is limited to two rather small side pockets. However, I took this jacket out on a trail run on a very windy, very rainy day (winter in the Pacific Northwest!) and by the end of my half hour run, there was considerable moisture throughout the inside lining of the jacket. While it could have been condensation, it seemed more like beading from the rain pelting down on it. The jacket was not so wet on the inside as to get my shirt wet, however, so for lack of a better jacket, I will most likely continue to use this for running. I would recommend this for casual wear or hiking, but would think twice about taking it out on a long hike in a downpour. The hood, however, is great - it has a nice beak that keeps the rain from hitting your face, even while running, with an elastic cord system around the whole hood for the perfect fit in a variety of different conditions.

I like being able to unzip from the bottom, so I can get a little more ventilation but still keep my chest dry. I can't figure out how to wear the hood over my bike helmet--will try wearing it under.
