Love at first sight. These shoes are really well built and durable (so far - I have had them a few months now). At first - as someone else mentioned - they were very stiff, but after a period of breaking them in they are very comfortable now. I have been wearing them in the mud, in the rain, and hiking in the snow (with gaiters and sometimes snowshoes). I live in Alaska and I am more concerned about function than looks...but I did get multiple compliments wearing these shoes. I usually wear a women's 10- in these I am a UK 7.5 (US 9.5).

These are very well made, quite water resistant (I cannot be sure where the damp is coming through, it could be over the top of the shoe but in dewey conditions my feet come back damp. Non-gortex type shoes they'd be wet, but I doubt if these shoes are truly waterproof if that matters.) They are very supportive, have a good heel cup and roomy enough toe box. For me, they were true to size. I find the insole to be a bit stiff and inflexible. I like that it's mold-able so it fits my feet perfectly--that adds to the comfort. The insole might improve with wear, but for me, they aren't perfect. Comfort is a difficult thing to assess as it is very individual. I suspect these will become great friends after a few months of wear, but they definitely require a break in period as far as I'm concerned. I prefer an insole with a bit more give to them. So far, I keep thinking of perfectly molded wooden insoles, and a hard wood at that.

These are the absolute best, most supportive hiking shoes I've ever had. I normally wear orthotics, but don't need to with these shoes due to the excellent support. The custom-molded inserts (heat them in the oven to mold them) are a really nice feature. If you like the feel of Dansko professional clogs, you'll love these shoes.
They provided great support and are comfortable immediately.
Thank you, Sierra Trading Post, for carrying these!

I purchased these shoes because my favorite Teva's were no longer available in my size. I am amazed at the quality of the Haglof shoe...those Scandinavians know about cold and wet. Unfortunately, i have to return it for the next smaller size. They do run about a half size bigger than US sized shoes. Will definitly exchange for the same shoe.

I've worn these for a couple of weeks and couldn't be happier. No break-in time; you heat the soles in the oven for a few minutes then insert them into the shoe and stand in them to mold the soles to your foot. They are truly waterproof; i've walked through wet tall grass several mornings, and no leaking. Supportive, solid, but they feel light; in fact i'm not aware of them, really, because they're so comfortable. Just what a shoe should be. Thanks STP for carrying these; they are otherwise unavailable in the U.S.
