I plan to use this jacket for foul weather hiking and sightseeing. Like the cut and line of the jacket. Is outdoorsy without loosing style. Very well constructed and is definitely a bargain at this price for gortex.

I am very happy with this coat. I tried it out in the rain for the first time today. Kept me nice and dry and being breathable I did not get hot as I usually would in a raincoat. The longer back is really good as it stops the rain dripping off the coat onto your bottom.

I had read this product was smaller size but that is not true. I am a busty broad shouldered woman who stands 5'8" and the large was a perfect fit! They were out of XL so I took my chances on a Large and very glad I did! I had 2 layers under and still plenty of room...but not too big either. I wore this last night to walk my dog in a hard down pour with temps in the mid 40s for 30min and stayed very warm and dry!! In fact I thought my boots started leaking but it was just the cold of the water soaking in, not the water. My point being, this Gor-Tex jacket works!! Seeing how I am not used to these types of temps living in TX, the jacket definitely passed the test for me. I can't wait to take it hiking this summer in CO (main reason I bought it). I would highly recommend this, esp at the great price!!

I'm planning to travel to New Zealand with it during their winter which is very rainy. I tested it out the other day, and it kept me very dry. I especially like the hood.. it's a good size that will keep me warm and dry.

thought this jacket would have been a more durable material for the money. Very nice jacket but if you plan on wearing anything bulky under go to next larger size

Use as a ski jacket for lift skiing. Spent 3 hours in the snow/rain and it didn't leak and I stayed completely dry. It was a good test. Fits great. Wish it had pit zips but otherwise awesome. Great gortex.

It was time to replace my 12 year old [...] goretex hard shell which I loved. The current trend in rain shells is for them to have a trim fit and to be short. I wanted something that would accomodate layers and cover my derrier and this turned out to be very hard to find. This jacket is well designed in terms of lots of pockets, a well-designed hood, it is soft and lightweight, although I actually prefer the stiffer old fashined goretex because it felt a little warmer and windproof. Figuring out a size felt crazy because customers reviewed it as running small AND running large. I am 5'2", 125 lbs. I ordered a medium and a large. The large was the better fit because I found the medium too tight in the torso to accomodate a fleece or winter sweater. I've never worn a large before in my life. The sleeves ended up being too long but they still aren't as long as the super-long sleeves on Patagonia products. The back of the jacket is curved and longer than the front which is good for coverage but I find it not attractive for everday use, i.e. it looks "technical". However, in Seattle we can get away with wearing practical looking rainwear given the weather. This is a well made product although I never would have paid [$] for it. As for the zipper that others mentioned, part of the problem is that the pull is on the left side and most jackets have the pull on the right so if you're right handed it feels awkward. Also the zipper is very petite compared to other jackets so it feels more awkward to get it seated properly in the track and the two way zipper parts lined up. It's a little annoying but I think they did it for the sake of weight and maybe Scandinavians use left handed zippers!

The hood on this jacket is very nice. It wouldn't blow off in the wind and stays upright easily. I was surprised at how narrowly built the jacket was for an XL. And, although it states that it's 28 inches long, it still seemed shorter than I would want a rainjacket. I was looking for something to walk in the rain in with my dog. This just doesn't offer the amount of coverage I wanted. It is a nice jacket for other activities for someone who is more narrowly built than I am. I usually easily fit into a 14. This seemed closer to a size 12 in XL. Also, I like more pockets; although, this does have inside pockets as well as two side pockets on the slant. I prefer the kind of pockets that have handwarmers and the drop down kind. Or, chest pockets. Had it fit better, I would've kept it instead of returning it. It is a nicely made jacket and the hood is superior to many hoods I've had on jackets.
