These boots are so well made and attractive, and STP offered them at a great price. They are really meant for serious hiking and were stiffer than what I needed, so I reluctantly returned them. If I was still doing any serious backpacking they would still be in my closet.

These boots seems to be very well made. I need waterproof boots for a trip to a National which I was unable to go to because of the shut down so I haven't been able to test that. They are almost a bit too rigid for me. I've been wearing them around the house & I have some irritation on my toe BUT I have very narrow feet so I'll buy an insole & that should keep my foot in place.

Buying hiking boots online can be tricky, but STP's prices and selection are irresistable. I returned two pair before, like Cinderella, I found the perfect fit. I usually wear a 9 in a dress shoe and European 39 or 40. Following the advice of reviewers, I ordered Asolos a full size larger in a 10. They were HUGE. The Vasque were too narrow. Based on Sparky's review (see above) I ordered this boot in a 41. I could probably go down a half size, but I'm pretty sure the 40 would be to small. A heavy sock should do the trick. I have wide feet and these are just right. If you have narrow feet, most likely this boot won't work for you.
They were comfortable right out of the box. Sturdy and a little stiff, but I'm sure with wear the stiffness will work itself out. They have super comfortable support, much better than the Asolos or Vasque. And, while I was seduced by the red Asolos, these are pretty sharp looking. I can't wait to hit the trail with them!

I ordered a second pair after wearing the boots for a few days on asphalt , concrete & dirt.
They are that comfortable, high quality and supportive!
The soles provide a good grip in the rain and do not collect as much debris as some styles.
Footbed feels a lttle bouncy- you do not feel tired after a day's wear.
The boots are stiff & hard to lace- perhaps they will soften up in a couple of months.
Nontheless, even loosely laced, this model offers excellent ankle and footbed support and is comfortable overall with no blisters or hot spots.
A 40 reg was a perfect fit- I usually wear a 8 1/2 US in makes like LOWA's, ASOLO or VASQUE.
The shoe is primarily leather (suede & nubuck) except for soles, tongue, collar around the ankle, inner lining & inserts. They are not as hot and sweaty as synthetic boots.
The moldable, removeable inserts are a big selling point for this model if you wear them. [I cannot vouch for this feature as I use custom fit orthotics for a broken foot.]
You can heat the inner soles briefly in a low oven for quick molding to your foot; or let time do the job.
CON: The laces are a little short.
One boot comes unlaced occasionally. For future versions, Haglofs might try one of those lace guard bumps on the tongue to prevent the laces from riding up.
Hope the soles wear as well as VIBRAM.
