“Just received this product. Its construction/quality looks great. Seams are very well-done, zippers are high quality, and the hood seems to work and articulate very well. The velcro-like closures on the sleeve ends as well as the hood seem to very well designed and solid.
I have owned and beaten upon an Arcteryx jacket for the past 10 years and decided to give the Haglof a try when the Arcteryx just started to stop keeping the water out after doing a little research. While Arcteryx products are amazingly well built and designed, since they have recently moved production to China (from previously Canada), I decided that I couldn't necessarily justify the high cost of non-domestically-produced gear.
My only concern is that the Neutron jacket isn't listed on the Haglofs website. I'm hoping that that's simply due to the 2009 versions being listed there and this jacket perhaps being a 2008 version (since the materials-Gore-Tex Pro-is quite new).
Admittedly, the Haglofs jacket seems a little more pedestrian than the highly technical jackets of Arcteryx, but the materials are the real deal and the cut seems to support the athletic styling rather than more casual cuts of North Face and others.
I'll have to see if the Haglofs jacket holds strong for anything close to the decade that Arcteryx kelp me dry. If not, I'll go back to Arcteryx.”
