Great addition to the bigger Rand I have. Tons of storage and easy to use. Probe, shovel you name it, it fits and fits well. Old model but quality is still top notch for the Japanese owned Haglofs. Both are fanatical about quality and details!!

Verified Buyer Reviewed by irishuponastar from Redmond, WA on Monday, December 31, 2012I purchased this backpack as a gift for my 12yo son, who is a Boy Scout, and does alot of hiking, backpacking, camping and orienteering with his pack. I was so pleased to find it a good fit for him (he's a 5', 120lb. kid.) It looks deceptively small out of the box, but once you open it up, unclip a few buckles, it expands quite nicely. I'm really looking forward to watching him pack all his gear in...I can reasonably see him being able to pack for a three or four day campout in this pack. Thanks for helping me make my son's Christmas!
Reviewed by packman from Silver Spring, MD on Thursday, December 13, 2012This is a really interesting pack. I've been looking for that perfect combination of small and big gear pockets, hitch points, with a great snug-to-the-hips suspension system in a roomy day pack.
I have yet to find my definition of "perfect." But this comes really close. I've particularly been looking for a pack that offers quick access and stowing of outer shells and such -- without having to dig into the main compartment. The straps across the back and flip out pouch fill this bill extremely well. It is a snowboard/ski pack, but that won't be my use. It should make an awesome skateboard pack, though.
I wish it had a couple more outside pockets, but it is still better than most in this regard.
The only real drawback I can see is, with all the straps, it could snag in thick brush before other packs if the user isn't careful. I understand it is intended for snow conditions so snag-proofing isn't a primary design spec -- more a product of my wanting to use if for something other than its intent.
Side note: it has two long, narrow pockets for poles that would be perfect for things like photography monopods, tent poles and such.
Overall, this is an excellent, comfortable, high quality pack. If you like the accessibility features like me, you might really like it. No regrets.
