OK, so I was tired of falling on my ass so I thought I would try these. I used 35 % off coupon and ordered a size larger than I usually wear after trying to figure out the very confusing size description. After pushing the buy button I wasn't sure what size I had ordered. When the boots came they where to big but I pulled out the very thin liners and put in some Soral Caribou liners, orthotics and I was good to go size wize . The next thing I was concerned about was the cracked leather bottoms which didn't look to durable. I work at a rock crushing plant as a welder. I wore these boots into December in zero degree conditions on ice , I blasted them with hot welding sparks for a couple of months kicked steel around and I can say that in their present state they are the best winter boot I have ever had because they are light, warm, durable and the crushed glass soles work. I experienced very little slipping. "But wait" some of you will say," these are not safety toe boots, you can't work at a rock crushing plant unless you have safety toe shoes" Well yes I can and the reason is, is because I am a welder and as a general class of people, we do pretty much what ever we deem necessary. Frozen toes from steel toe safety boots are not necessary. .

For the price the boot felt like it would either wear out of cut easily. Extremely wide from side to side and top to bottom in forefoot. Ankle and above not too bad of fit. Tried double inserts but still could not get it right.

i returned a pair for fit. sierra said a uk 8.5 equaled a us 9.5. i usually wear a us 9.5-10. my toes were right at the end of the uk 8.5 and the boot was too big in circumference. very roomy around the mid to forefoot. i took a short test walk on new fallin snow covering packed and icy condition. i had a sorel open range boot on one foot and the hanwag on the other. the open range slipped nearly every step and the hanwag didn't slip once. pulling laces to tighten needs much work.
