The story behind Hardy fishing rods and reels began in the early 1870s, when William Hardy and his brother started a gunsmithing business in Alnwick, Northumberland. Although they made a good living in northern England producing high-quality firearms, it wasn’t long before the brothers’ passion for fishing precipitated a change of direction for the company, and Hardy rods and reels were the result. Hardy was the first tackle company to build and market hexagonal bamboo rods and also introduced the first large-arbor reels in 1911. Hardy ... The quality of this rod is exceptional! I have fished high end rods costing 3 times the price and in my estimation, the Hardy is every bit as good as any of my other rods. I think with some more use, it will become my favorite. Off to a good start on my native/wild trout limestone streams in central PA where I live.

wow, using 34' shoting scadi line , just watching it sail 80' across a large river a thrill on it's own this pole is true to form , nice color, well made. It's sure a lot of fun to use and when you get a big steelie on, even better yet this pole handles very well.

The 8 weight rod is very good overall choice when you have a need for a rod that will handle heavier lines and fishing conditions. I used it for Idaho steelhead fishing and found it did an excellent job with heavy and weighted flies. The fast action doesn't break down when casting these flies. The fit and finish of the rod is excellent. While the action is a small step down from the premium rods costing 3 to 4 times more, I rate this as a very good choice.
