Hawksley & Wight Straight Skirt (For Women)

This skirt has shaken up my world. It fits perfectly. It looks formal and classy. I didn't know I could look so polished and pulled together without a dry clean bill. I got it because it was affordable, washable and had all important belt loops (perfect for my keys and skinny belt) and pockets. I teach and need somewhere to put keys and lip balm. Pencil and pen won't fit in these pockets though. I usually wear pants and would shock the kiddies if I wore a skirt but this would work. I have traditionally hated navy and compromised about that bias when I ordered it. I wish it came in brown or black or any other color. I am keeping it because it fits me so well without alteration, hangs nicely and makes my bottom half look like a million bucks. This is east coast classy, not my usual west coast organic tweedy granola style. I really felt my west coast clothes looked too casual in Washington DC. This skirt is going in my travel bag from now on. I could meet the president, brunch with senators and still run for the train. I have a couple of Northface button down travel shirts that pair nicely with it. My other clothes look too casual however. Finding other crisp classy clothes in my wardrobe is the challenge now. I am warming up to navy as a wardrobe color, I am 5'1" and it is a perfect knee length. If you are taller, expect a miniskirt.

This skirt impersonates the highest-quality fine wool, but is actually a machine-washable, easy-care fabric. I have little or nothing like it in my wardrobe. It gives a nice, tailored, pulled-together appearance. I predict I'll wear it a lot.

This is the third size I've tried in this skirt and I still haven't managed to hit it right. I will try one more time because I really like the simple styling and washability. Two or three sizes bigger than your usual seems to be what you should order.

I love this skirt but the sizing is nuts. I ordered my normal size 6 and it was so tiny that I skipped the 8 and reordered the 10. I was afraid I might be overcompensating and the 10 would wind up being to big. Guess what, I had to send it back because it also was too small. It is testimony to how much I liked the skirt that I actually tried again. Remember my usual size is a 6 but with this skirt the 12 was a perfect fit. Getting it right was not easy but now I'm very happy with it. I love the pockets and the shorter length. It's a very flexible style. Professional with a jacket or casual with a fun little top. The quality, like most everything from this company, is fantastic.

This skirt looks and wears just as advertised. A nice shade of deep navy; great length just above the knee. Haven't tried it yet, but would probably travel well with a minimum of wrinkling. Slim, A-line cut, not a good cut for women with curvy hips and small waste, but it fits well on me and looks great.

I bought one of these skirts when I was a size 6, and it was perfect. So months later, when I became an 8, I was thrilled to see it was still here. I scooped it up and took it to my tailor. It drove him crazy trying to fix it. First, he had to let it out. Then, he had to do further repairs -- it bunched up at the hips/top of pockets in an odd way. I love the style and length, so I must be crazy because I'm giving it another shot, bought it in another color. Am hoping this one is not defective. Third time's the charm.

I loved everything about this skirt, except it didn't fit. Sad
