I wore shoes such as these when I was in high school. They were comfortable, and I didn't fall. Now I am much, much older. These are not the same as I wore in high school, but they are comfortable. I think that they do well on ice.

These winter boots are great. Superior quality and value.

Pluses: Very good-looking boots, very hardy (like a fashionable version of a work boot), warm (good for stomping through snow) Minuses: These boots really need half sizes. I'm a size 8 with narrow feet (though not narrow enough to warrant narrow-size shoes). I bought the size 9 thinking I could layer my feet with socks. The 9 was way too long, though the width was fine, confirming other reviewers who said these boots ran narrow. I then bought the size 8; they are just a tiny bit too short (my toes bump against the top a lot). I'm keeping them anyway because I figure use will stretch them out, plus they're warm without wearing multiple socks, very hardy, and very practical while being pretty and non-clunky. (My mom loves her boots, BTW.)

If you plan to wear socks with these boots you need to get a size larger than your actual shoe size. But you really do not need socks, since they are fur-lined; leggings or stockings are sufficient.

While this is an attractive boot, it is too tight across the seam line so I am unable to wear them. I intend to return them.
