Thought we would try these on our recent AT trek. Spicer than we care for (maybe it is the western blend) and the tall thin packaging makes it difficult to eat without cutting down the bag. Also - requires 15-19 minutes cooking time.

Portion size and calories better for 1-2 than the advertised 3. No problems with rehydration in the bag - make sure to use the appropriate amount of boiling water and quickly stir to break up dry ingredients before sealing the bag. A long spoon is helpful since the bag is relatively long and thin. My son liked it better than me (a touch high on sodium), but it's comparable in quality to the better known Mountain House and Backpacker's Pantry products. Will buy again.
There is no expiration date on the package what it does show is the date of manufacture. Which according to the vendor is good for 3 to 4 years after that and since it is a dehydrated product longer if not opened.
