Where I live, winters typically come early and stick around until late. That being said, I tend to layer up when I go out. This is a perfect, middle-of-the-road, down jacket. For the extra cold winter days/nights (teens or below) you are going to want some warm clothes underneath. Temps in the upper 20s to 30s, this jacket is plenty warm. Color is great (red and charcoal). Hood is a nice feature (better if it was a zip-in). Only downside, in my opinion, would be that the jacket lacks any interior pockets. Overall, very happy.
    • Best Uses: Daily winter use
    • Cons: Not Enough Pockets

    • Pros: Attractive Design, Lightweight, Versatile
    • Sizing: Feels true to size
    • Sleeve Length: Feels true to length

The color is more green than charcoal. The zipper does not appear all that great and may give problems. Not very compact nor lite for 700 fill. Seems like it would be warm and may fit some people's uses perfectly, just not mine. For the money it could be a great buy.
    • Cons: Bulky, Heavy
    • Pros: Comfortable, Good Cut, Warm
    • Sizing: Feels true to size
    • Sleeve Length: Feels too long

Can tell it's a hit with my husband,,he wears it all the time and looks great in it! The hood is a plus on a down jacket and the jacket wears great with another layer underneath when it's subzero here in Alaska.

Sierra Trading Post claims it is a 700 down but the tags on the jacket rate it with 550.
