I purchased these last minute for a summer trip to Iceland for some light day hikes. They were comfortable from day one and served the purpose. No extreme weather challenged them, but I am confident they would have kept feet warm and dry in heavy rain. They worked well with a pair of short socks ... Read More

Got these Hi-Tec's Peak Lite Mid hiking boots on a closeout for my girlfriend. Was glad that I paid a little more for these over the other pair on closeout. Now, she just got these - so I will tell you what I know:
    They are pretty light
They seemed to run true to size
The quality seems to be there
The sole is aggressive, but not overly so
They are a little snug around her ankle at the top of the boot.
They are maybe a skitch stiff - but she has just been wearing them around the house to break in.
I have no idea yet as to how dirt & water repelling they may be.
To summarize - it has been a long time since she has had a hiking boot. She has been spending more time outdoors as I am outdoors a lot. She wanted a light weight hiker that had a decent gripping sole, would provide some ankle support and not be stiff like a logging boot. She seems pretty thrilled w/ these as they have seemed to fit the bill.
If you are hardcore, perhaps you should look for a "better" hiker, if you are an occasional wearer and want light weight mid-high hiking boot these may be for you.

I bought these for work, not for hiking. Shoes feel true to size, but feels kind of stiff, not the best insoles. After replacing the insoles with ones that provide more arch support, shoes felt more comfortable. Shoes are ok for the cheap price - satisfaction will depend on what your expectations are - as I've had Hi-Tec shoes before, I did not expect them to feel the same as my more expensive shoes do, so I'm ok with them.

I had been searching for a waterproof mid hiking boot and found these. I truly think the clincher for me was the reviewer in Colorado that wrote "The boots maiden voyage was a 14er last weekend, and they did great!" Although I don't do and probably will never do a 14er, I do a lot of trails and what we call mountain areas in the Northern Va/Maryland/PA area and I have no doubt these are going to be great. The first pair I wore around the house for two weeks/some back yard and I love the arch support, the lite weight and general support of this boot. I did go up a 1/2 size because I do wear medium, usual merino wool, weight sock and it just felt better (size 8.5 med). Hope this helps.

Ran a bit small, had to go up a 1/2 size to make the right fit. Very comfortable and the light weight is an added bonus. Have done some day trips to break these in and so far great traction and stability, I have weak ankles and some foot pain but these made the day trips a success. Looking forward to fall hiking in these!!

Shoes are comfortable, but too wide in the ankles. I do not have narrow feet.
