I am using these for day hiking. Put them on right away to break in before 5 mile hike but very comfortable right from the start. Did not need break in

Bought these mostly because the price on STP was too good to pass on.

I bought a pair of full on Asolo hiking boots, but wanted something to use for day to day wear in and around mountain villages and trails. Bought these for pre-trip training to save wear on higher-$$$ shoes. This review is based on limited use.

The build quality seems to be up to or better than industry norms; the sockliner is particularly good. Soles seem a little flexible; I can feel some stones on trail, but not enough to be bothersome. Rand coming up over the toe is a plus.

The lacing system includes both fabric loops and eyelets punched in the leather. The eyelets are a bit small - I had trouble getting the aglets of the lace through the holes. Lost one plastic aglet trying to pull the lace out.

Compare to Keen Voyager: higher priced Keens purchased at retail have massive rand over the toe and a stiffer sole for heavier duty use.

Summary: Nice shoe for lighter duty use.

About Hi-Tec

After retiring from the Dutch Air Force and moving to England in the mid-1970s, the enterprising Frank Van Wezel decided to create the world’s first pair of Hi-Tec shoes designed specifically for playing squash. The idea was a hit, and it wasn’t long before Frank’s company had grown to include a full selection of Hi-Tec boots, shoes and sandals. Today, after nearly four decades of footwear innovation, Hi-Tec hiking boots, tennis shoes and sneakers deliver the best mix of support, comfort and style for people who live for adventure.
