HiDefSpex Raven Hi Definition Sporting Shield Glasses Kit - Varia Lens, 2 Pair
Closeouts. HiDefSpex Raven sporting sunglasses shield eyes from impacts without diminishing your field of view. They also feature a High-Definition Ballistx lens, which is stronger than any other transparent lens material on the market. Lower refractive index and chromatic dispersion results in sharper images, higher definition, reduced rainbowing and more visual comfort.
Reviewed by Packed and ready to go from California on Tuesday, September 3, 2013The Varia Lenses on http://www.hdspex.com.au/blade_archery.html say that the lenses are photo chromatic. These are not.
These varia lenses are lighter than my original pair of ravens - lighter as in thinner, less weighty and seem a bit more fragile.
Another down side is no hard case.
Reviewed by Packed and ready to go from California on Tuesday, September 3, 2013These are very nice lenses. They are sun glasses. As indicated they do reduce light transmission by 15% or so. I've had them now about 3 weeks and am pleased. I use the darker pair in the 105 degree glaring california central valley summer sun. I use the more translucent set in the overcast mediterranean climate of the San Francisco Bay Area.
I bought these to replace a pair of ravens I broke from brute force. They don't quite fit within my motorcycle helmet face mask. I forgot and pressed really hard on the lense with my gloved finger, which led to cracking.
The lenses are pretty amazing and work as advertised. I found eye fatigue non-existent when wearing these. I am pushing 50 years old and have abused my eyes some 25 years with 8+ hours a day in front of computer displays and CRTs. They are big glasses and exceeding light weight.
On the down side, as someone has posted previously, the plastics on these and texturing at the points of contact are rough and abrasive and a bit harsh. The previous pair I possessed seemed to be a bit more "rubbery" plastic. The "plastic" or frn or whatever is harsh. I have become accustomed though and wear the shades 5+ hours a day without complaint and with much thanks.
My other criticism is with quality control. All 3 pair that I have owned, have hinge irregularities. One arm opens about 5-10 degrees further than the other, which, for us wide faced people, leads to the glasses being askew. One lense sits nearer to one eye than the other. This is due to the hinge stop on the left arm having a pinch more clearance than on the right.
I still dig the lenses and the weight - functionally cool. I can't speak to fashion, except the gold and toroise is a bit too bling for me.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by runajam from Winter Park, CO on Wednesday, April 6, 2011I must have misunderstood the description. I wanted sunglasses. these are more for protection than for glare reduction or practical sunglass use. Returned item ordered polarized SUNGLASSES.

Verified Buyer Reviewed by Hunter from Michigan on Friday, December 17, 2010Really great quality for the price, the only thing I don't like about these glasses is that as you put them on, the end of the arms scratch your face, they have hard plastic 'bumps' on the inside of the arms for better holding once they are on. I can see their purpose, but they really scratch your face as you put them on.
