Good bag for overseas travel. Narrow so will fit down aisle of plane. Bag is heavy before packing so is not perfect. The zippers are great, bag well made. The small backpack is simple and will only hold a small laptop and a few things. Shoulder straps are comfortable. If the pack was lighter it would be an ideal travel bag. Don't over pack it to get on smaller international planes like EasyJet.

I used this bag as my sole luggage for a 19 day trip to Japan. The airline accepted it as carry on. The detachable smaller backpack was very light, easy to remove (not so easy to reattach though it did work), and large enough for minimum anounts of food, water and extra warm clothing for a 2 day climb of Mt. Fuji as well as shorter day trips. There's a Fastex buckle strap included that held my rolled up jacket. I never used the full pack as a backpack because I didn't need to. It is an easy roll-along and picks up easily with a top handle. The zips are heavy duty, strong enough to over stuff the compartments, and the bag itself is extremely tough. The only downside I found is that it is quite heavy for its size, but this is a trade-off I'm willing to pay for its durability and flexibility. Not only would I recommend it to a friend, I bought a couple of extra ones to GIVE as presents to friends.
