Again, I'll say that the versatility of separating the luggage into two units is very convenient. For example, when I'm on an extended vacation and staying at a base lodging, I can (re)pack one piece for short 1 or 2 day excursions. The only improvement would be to have backpack straps for both pieces. I should also say that this luggage is not designed for hiking in the outback but works great for hopping trains or cabs, zipping around airports and travelling between hotels, etc.
Contrary to another reviewer's problem with a wheel breaking, I've not had that problem with this luggage. Sierra Trading Post has an excellent return policy and that person might consider contacting them about the wheel issue.
Here is why I say that....
My previous luggage was purchased more than 8 years ago from Sierra Trading Post and was of similar design/functionality (wheels, handle, duffle, backpack straps). After all those years, the extendable handle broke so I contacted Sierra to see if they could help me find the manufacturer so I could buy just the handle and replace it myself (it seemed like an easy task to do). Sierra asked me to return the luggage to them for evaluation. They even paid for the shipping! After they got it, they said that manufacturer was no longer in business and offered me $75 credit towards the purchase of any other piece of luggage. Wow, that much credit after more than 8 years of use was way beyond their responsibility. What a great company!
