Information about High Sierra Rolling Duffel Bag - 36" Drop Bottom
Closeouts. What separates High Sierra's rolling duffel bag from the pack is its ingenious use of space—and lots of it. This 36" drop bottom duffel features straps for last-minute lash-ons and generous, end-pocket-accessible stuff sacks for laundry.

The airlines have a 62 inch limit total circumference... if you fill this full (to 16 inches deep), you will be over the limit. We plan to fill it to 12 inches, and hope that gets us on the plane without a problem. It would be nice if this caution had been in the description.

Bottom line: It was a good deal for the price, and does its job but I would not have paid full price for it.
I bought this to combine some of my video gear with my clothing into one bag for an international trip. The drop bottom is great for my tripod, etc. as well as shoes and other bulky items. I love the two end pockets on top as and the upper compartment for "living out of." After some rough handeling and being rolled over gravel a couple times, I've noticed some small holes in the nylon on the bottom end. And, as some others have noted, I am concerned about the durability of the zippers. My only other warnings are to watch your sizze and weight while flying and 36" is quite long and may get it sent to "oversized baggage collection" in the airport.

My old fishing equipment bag was worn out. I wanted one big enough to stow waders, boots, jackets, vests and my large retrieving net. This bag does the job. The price was low compared to the expensive gear bags. The old bag lasted many years and was really inexpensive. This one is much better and should last a very long time. All in all a good value.
It would be tight with regard to the width.

I wouldn't say this is likely the best option for you because of the drop bottom feature of this bag you may find it hard to stow your harp in it. The sides are soft, but it would be hard to imagine fitting something this size in that isn't a rectangular shape. Good Luck!

The drop bottom is a separate compartment about 5.5" deep. The main compartment is about 7" deep. This makes up the total depth of about 13". Actually you might just barely fit the case in the drop bottom if it's a soft case that can flex some. It would be a forced fit.

For most airlines the size is 62 linear inches and this bag is 66. Each airline is different though so you will want to contact them directly for their regulations.

No problem yet. I used it twice this past week with the full amount extended. All the airlines seem to worry about is the bag's weight, which is nice since this bag starts out light (yet durable).

A drop bottom bag means that there is a separate bottom department to hold shoes and other items you may want to separate from your clothing. You can choose to have that zipped separately or you can open it for one large compartment.

The drop bottom is a separate compartment about 5.5" deep. The main compartment is about 7" deep. This makes up the total depth of about 13". Actually you might just barely fit the folding cot by itself in the drop bottom if it's the futon-type with which I am familiar. It would be more difficult trying to stuff it in sideways into the main compartment as the u-shaped, zippered opening is inset by about 8" from either end of the duffel. The zipper's true height runs about 21" out of the 36" total height.
