This bag is less than half the price of what I could get it in Australia! Just what I need for my upcoming 5 week trip to France. I think I will leave the daypack at home and take a more comfortable, bigger one. It is bit heavier than what I would have liked but that just means I wont be able to take so much 'stuff' with me.

When flying I always have a flight on a small plane & a larger one. My carry-on is too big for the small plane & has to be valet-checked. When the flight arrives late, stopping to pick up the carry-on can make the difference in making my connecting flight. The day pack fits overhead on the small plane & the back pack slides under the seat, so no more valet waits. There are several pockets which make it easy to find what you need. The biggest issue was that the strap on the back of the day pack which slides over the handle of the wheeled unit is so snug it is hard to put on. Once on it works well. It can also take a minute to align the zipper to reattach the day pack. It would roll better if the wheels rotated. I haven't used the backpack feature. I just attached it to my checked luggage when I picked it up. The backpack is heavy because of the wheels.

Checked as baggage on flight. Wheeled down the icy streets of Chicago very flexibly. Transfer from train to bus to street very easily. Never used the backpack dimension, yet. It is pretty large for that as an intact unit, but the straps are certainly solid. Like the idea of a day pack option. Durable, flexible storage compartments.

I bought this bag in 2002. It has gone through some changes (daypack use to be larger then current version) but overall it's the same bag. I took this thing to Australia/NZ, The Amazon, Brasil, Argentina, Europe and all over the USA. I beat the thing (not to mention what baggage handlers did to it!) and it withstood everything I threw at it. Finally, on this last trip to Maui, the handle broke and I am here to buy a new one. Can't say enough good things about this bag.

The bag is well made and sturdy. Good for traveling, especially if some outdoor adventures are involved.

I never did use the pack. I found this pack to be heavy at 12.5 pounds, I settled on the High Sierra 26 inch at 7.4 pounds and used my existing daypack.

Somehow I didn't realize how much weight this pack would have - the wheels really add. The reason to have wheels is to deal with weight, but if it's on your back, light is good. Otherwise it seems to be a good pack

Used traveling around China for a month. Took a beating without any problems. Had purchased a somewhat smaller version of the same bag but it could not stand up to the abuse so exchanged for a second of this bag so we now have two.

Very useful as a set. Take the backpack with you on the plane. However, being 6' 6", the backpack looked like a toy on my back. Sturdy and maneuverable on Europe's trains. Easily held what I needed for 10 days.
