Reviewed by rudecamp from Annapolis, MD on Tuesday, January 22, 2013I bought this for my older brother to help facilitate his eclectic style of travel - some business and some pleasure and while he (and I) were happy with its versatility it isn't quite big enough to be the only piece of luggage for a trip longer than 2 days. It will certainly always be within size limits for carryon though so that is a plus. He commented that it was a bit hard to attach the backpack part when it was full

It's an excellent design, and its dimensions seem to be acceptable as a carryon to any major airline [from a casual perusal of a list of airline's carryon size restrictions.] The thing is, I don't fly most of those foreign-flagged carriers that have the worst restrictions, and this bag would barely hold enough for a weekend away. If you do a lot of overnight flights so your actual luggage needs are minimal, this may be ideal for you. But it just wouldn't work for me, & was returned. Thanks STP for your great satisfaction guarantee!

Answer Customer reviews say that the backpack is very comfortable and lightweight. It is also easy to take apart.

Answer It separates to a smaller pack easily with a zipper and packs well and comfortably in that formation. I do not find it light enough to pack the entire piece, as I am 58 and have a neck injury. But I would do it through an airport if necessary, rather than a longer-type pack trip.

Answer It does not have a protected pocket.

Answer The daypack is very padded. The main bag is not. That said, it would be hard to fit anything beyond a netbook in the daypack (and then, little else will fit). I only carried an e-reader in mine, along with other things and it was a snug fit. Ask me about the Eagle Creek version in a week or so, as that's what I've returned this bag to get.

Answer It does not have a protected pocket. It's great for carrying books in either pack, as this is what one of it's main functions is.
