“useful, but flimsy”

By blertVerified Purchaser from madison on 01/08/2010
Pros:
Convenient
Cons:
Poor Construction, Short battery life
Best Uses:
Camping, EMERGENCIES, Power outages
Describe Yourself:
Budget Shopper
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
“This is a great idea, combining an emergency flashlight, radio, and cell phone charger into one item, and it works reasonable well. The main drawback is the flimsy plastic construction. The crank handle to charge the batteries feels very cheaply made, and even when turning it gently, I fear that it will snap off after an hour or two of charging. Also, while the batteries can be charge with the crank, the crank is very slow to charge the thing. Using a wall or car adapter is much more convenient, but, alas, a wall adapter is not provided and must be purchased separately (or scrounged from among the various appliance adapters piled up around the house for the correct voltage and amperage). Charging the batteries with a wall adapter when the power is on to use when the power goes out makes a lot more sense than cranking madly to keep up a charge once the lights have already gone out.”
