“I always like wool bonded to fleece: it's warm and breathes well. This wool is a soft 80% wool 20% nylon blend bonded to a thick sherpa fleece that's very warm and soft. I have two gripes with this jacket, however; the first is less a complaint than a caveat: the trim is a thick knit cuff that is several inches long. On the sleeves, that means the cuff begins several inches up the arm. Not a big deal: it extends the proper length on the hand. The collar, on the other hand, is hard to fold over due to its thickness and tends to sand up straight. I find permanently upright collars obnoxious, but this one looks pretty nice: white orange and blue. I also don't like the cuff around the waist because it tends to ride up. The pockets also seem a little flimsy but have held up well. My only real gripe with this jacket is with the woolen outer material: it has a soft hand but it pills. After a day of use, it pilled on the inside of both sleeves- a lot. Too bad. I hope it holds up because it's a nice throwback to a 60s/70s surfer style. It looks like it should be worn around a bonfire on a California beach. I wear it under a waterproof shell because it's so warm and breathable. This is a well-made jacket with a groovy style that performs like a technical piece despite the cuffs and casual fit. I recommend it and hope to see more from Hobie.”
