The sides are made of the willow branches and the middle sections are strapping of the willow..this is why some say not sturdy or cheap. Believe me these are NOT cheap. They are beautiful and sturdy. I wish I could include a picture. I have loaded up the large basket with bathroom essentials like lotions, soaps and shampoos. The small ones I am using for bills, ect...I just bought another set and if I could would have bought ALL of the rest ! *:)
