Ibex

Love the Ibex brand, which is normally very pricey. This is s great soft-shell jacket, great to wear skiing on warmer days, or layered under a hard shell jacket on cooler days. Water resistant, would keep dry in light rain. NOT insulated. Made of wool (not your typical synthetic soft shell material). It kept me warm in 10 degree weather with down coat under it and a hard shell over it. I wore it over a down coat in 20 degree weather and was warm. Would be best for spring skiing and very active winter sports (snow shoeing, xc ski). Breathable. Yellow color is butter yellow, I like it but it may not be for everyone.

Ibex makes a great product. I read the reviews of this jacket & ordered it based on the sleeve length issue. The biggest complaint I have about women's wear is the arms are too short & my wrists get cold. With this jacket I can extend my arms in any direction & wrists stay covered! Yay. (BTW- my "ape" index is a +1) I am only 5'4" so I wouldn't say my arms are unusually long either. It is a stylish jacket with a good cut for short- waisted people. I wonder how the fit would be for a taller person. (The jacket isn't very long from shoulder to hip.)

I don't have/wear a lot of "sporty" clothing so I wanted to get a few key pieces for outdoor activities, exercise and before and after exercise. I can see how if you have a sporty style this jacket would be a keeper - but if I'm going to have one or two such things, this one doesn't make the cut. It's Ibex but doesn't have enough wool to justify the cost, even on sale - at least for me.

Great jacket, warm, lightweight, looks great. It is a bit more stiff than supple and that might bother some, not me.

I bought a version of this jacket as a sample of number of years ago (from the maker's tent sale) and regrettably consigned it. After searching for another like product, i decided that if it's not broke don't fix it and hurriedly purchased it here. I did say the sleeve length is long, but that's not necessarily a bad thing- when you move it still covers- other just might be shorter that I (5'6"). I love all of Ibex's products- you get what you pay for. I won't make the mistake of consigning this one.

I was planning on this jacket being my mulitpurpose jacket - my fault i didn't read more carefully to notice that there is no lining in the jacket and i do not need another gortex shell. I returned the jacket because the body is very bulky, almost no tapering so it looks very very boxy on as well as the need for layers underneath since there is no lining as mentioned above. I am 5'8'' and have longer arms and a shorter torso. the arms fit wonderfully which I was thrilled about but could not overlook the body fit.

I was delighted to find this jacket to be much nicer looking than it appears in the photo on the website. I love the quality of Ibex clothing. This blended material is rather stiff, but I am sure it softens as other reviewers have said it does. I was sad to do it, but I sent the jacket back because the torso was not form fitting. It felt like I had a lot of excess fabric around my chest and stomach, which is unflattering and inefficient for warmth. The arm length and shoulder width however felt just right. I am 5'3" and weigh 107.

I was drawn to this Jacket primarily because of the color! I was disappointed that, although I always wear a medium, it was tight around my hips.

The front looks great, but the back sort of puffs out. I'm petite, so it would probably look good on a taller person. The fabric is great. Sleeves are far too long. Not right for a short person.

I have short arms, and the sleeves were long on me, but useful when cold out and pockets are zipped. I'm getting all kinds of compliments on it - it looks great! Good deal, too.
