Reviewed by LBee107 from Great Lakes on Tuesday, July 29, 2014Scarlet is definitely HOT PINK, not red as it would seem. I thought it might just be me but my 3 year old son asked if "the pink shirt" was for his little sister and when my husband got home and I asked him what color it was he said "dark pink?". We'll be saving this one for our daughter and trying to find the right size in a boys color.
We've owned a number of these base layer shirts for the adults in the house as well as the kids, they wash great, keep everyone the perfect temperature, and look cute to boot! The price with my coupon was amazing!
Reviewed by laarsje from MA on Friday, October 25, 2013My kids each got two of these for daily wear all winter. I had one last year for myself and found that I wore it 3-4 days/week and it didn't need washing that often, kept me the perfect temperature and was great for layering (and also still looks perfect).
My kids feel the same. We put them on the morning they arrived and they want them on everyday, alone or under other shirts. I ordered my son, who is tall, thin and almost 8 a size 7-8 and it barely fits. He doesn't mind, because it's mostly an underlayer, but the sleeves are a tad shorter than I'd like. If I were ordering again I'd go up a size. If your child is husky, you might want to size up, as well, although they do have nice stretch. My son is really sensitive about his clothes but doesn't complain about this wool at all.
This is just the perfect weight as an underlayer, but on a cool fall day my son ran around outside with only this on and was happy. Also, they are really beautiful - the colors are nice and they look great, even after being worn and worn. We're converts.
Reviewed by Melbourne Mum from Australia on Wednesday, July 17, 2013My daughter wore this all day with nothing under it and no complaints about itchiness. Warm all day, but not too warm in the classroom. Perfect with a jacket over outside. Lovely! Size 11/12 is baggy, but wearable for this 9 year old. Arms only a bit long, but not troublesome.
Reviewed by Front Range mom from Longmont, CO on Saturday, June 15, 2013Great fabric, fit, color, washability, and comfort. My kid loves this shirt. It looks great and he feels great in it, and it washes beautifully. Wool is unbeatable for temperature regulation and comfort, and Icebreaker makes some of the nicest stuff around. For this quality, STP's prices are a steal.
Question & Answer
I've always bought these using the sizes that correspond to ages, like Sz 1 = 12 month, Sz 2 = 2T, etc.
We've had a number of these through the years and that seems to work out perfectly, the shirts are always the same size as the other clothes in their drawers.
Hope that helps!
“How does the sizing work on the icebreaker clothing for kids? I see 1 and 2 but don't know what size that actually means. Thanks, Kristan ”
I took it to mean 1 = 12mo, 2= 2T, etc.
I've bought a number of them doing it that way and it seems to work out well.
These are the measurements that Icebreaker has for size 1.
Chest 19 ¾ – 21 ¼
Waist 19 ¾ – 20 ½
Hip 19 ¾ – 21 ¼
Height 2'7 ½ – 2'10 ¾
