This is my second review, having finally received Lotus Capri Pants in the package labeled as such after two failures to arrive!
Now, as to the pants...
Like several other reviewers, I am just shy of 5' 4". I question the label "capri" on these pants. In the photo, they look just below the knee. On me, they come to the top of my ankle bone. (I'm short in the torso, so my legs are a bit long for petite pants, a bit short for regular pants.) These will only look like the picture on a VERY tall lady.
Unlike other reviewers, I've left the ties at the ankle. I'm more comfort oriented than fashion-oriented, but my sense of style is pretty funky/artistic. With the ankles tied, I'd say these look sort of like sarouelles (or funky, balloon-y dance Middle Eastern/dance pants.) Of course, the black wool fabric tones them down from being TOO funky.
The rise is lower than I prefer, but probably "normal" for today's market. I like to wear wool best with a silk layer beneath, and my low-rise long john bottoms (in petite length) do hide completely beneath these pants. On a cold day when I wore regular rise long underwear, I had to tuck in my shirt to hide the glaringly obvious higher waistband on my long underwear. That was not a fashionable look--just what I needed for comfort!
I joked to my husband that these are "art teacher pants." They are NOT a typical style. You won't look like everyone else on the street. I believe you could dress them up for a work environment in a hip/artistic setting, but they would not be suitable in a traditional corporate environment.
The ankle ties please me because I know my pants legs are up and out of the way on wet/muddy days. I wore these to a parent-tot yoga class with my little guy and they stayed comfortably in place. (This is a low-key, toddler oriented class--I think you could choose better than Lotus Capris for true fitness pants!)
Wear these for comfort, or wear these to look slightly "ethnic funky."
They are typical Icebreaker quality (excellent); the wool is very soft. I don't normally like drawstring waist pants, but the tie on these fits comfortably. It is a clever material (cotton twill tape?) that ties easily, can be undone when one is ready, but has not yet (7 wearings?) come undone accidentally as I go about my day.
My pockets don't show through when I wear them, but I fall between sizes (L/XL) in most Icebreaker stuff, and these are the XL. I am at my widest at the hip, narrowest at the waist, so consider a larger size if this is your shape, too.
I got these the day before I came down sick with the flu. I wore these almost every day I was home sick (but well enough to actually get out of bed and get dressed.) They are that comfortable. The phenomenal temperature-regulating ability of wool was never more obvious to me than as I went through the alternating hot and cold spells with a high fever. They're even better outside in the ever-changing spring weather--freezing mornings and warm afternoons.
