Icebreaker GT 260 Commute Cycling Jersey - Merino Wool, Long Sleeve (For Men)

Discontinued. Icebreaker's GT 260 Commute cycling jersey is about to refine your cold-weather commute. Its stretchy midweight of merino wool not only insulates, but it also wicks moisture and prevents overheating. The hem is lengthened in the back and features a silicone grippy to prevent the layer from riding up.

This was my first Icebreaker product and I bought it to extend my biking season in the fall and give me a little earlier start for the spring. I have since purchased other products by Icebreaker including socks, base layers, and even a cycling jersey and have been very pleased with all of them. So far I have worn this over short & long sleeve base layers (and occasionally under a Showers Pass Hybrid jacket when the temps really dipped) and it has performed like a champ in temps down to the low 40s F. Merino wool is lightweight, warm, breathes well, and wicks away sweat better than the cheap polyester tech tees I had used previously. I washed it when it first arrived but since then I have worn this jacket about a dozen times without laundering and it still doesn't smell. Amazing! My polyester stuff was good for one ride before it hit the laundry. The best part is that even when damp, you still feel warm in wool. Although pricey, this is one of the best athletic clothing purchases I have made and was totally worth it. Once you go wool, you won't go back. Highly recommended!

If you cycle in cool or cold temps, I also recommend the Woolistic Sputnik Merino Wool cap. It's not available at Sierra Trading Post but well worth seeking out.

Im 5'9" 200lbs and the large fits great. It would be perfect to ride in or eat around town. Its not a real thick material, but would be very warm under a windbreaker. I love it, as I do most icebreakers gear

I have the black, in a large. I'm 6'1, 170 lbs. It's a bit baggy in the arms, but otherwise fits well. The silicone around the back hem is a nice feature. I don't use it for cycling, but for casual wear. Once cooler weather arrives, I'll use it alone for hiking or as a midlayer when I travel to cold areas. It would work well for running, but I tend to wear my icebreaker crew or Arc'teryx Accelero for that. This jacket's zipper is a little too heavy for running in my opinion. It also has a thick flap of the same wool material as the rest of the jacket that runs down along the back of the zipper. I like this, just adds some weight. But as my title implies, the jacket as a who is lightweight.

The construction of the jacket is top notch, as one would expect from Icebreaker. Good zippers. The hand pockets are well placed. There are none of the typical back pockets of a cycling jersey. It's is a sharp looking jacket. However, the one complaint I have is the red highlights at the top of the shoulders. I have a slim build, so for someone who has broader shoulder, it may look good, but is a little weird on me.

    I would recommend this jacket.

This jersey is my conservative-when-it-comes-to-fashion husband's favorite layer over a t-shirt, through most of the year here in Minnesota. He's been wearing the first one we got last year several times a week - not just for cycling, but around the house and out on errands. It's a great-looking, minimalist design, non-itchy, rather lightweight layer that looks great as a modern sweater. I worried that eventually it will wear out with so much use, so I got him a new one when it popped up again in the catalog. This one is a deep black color that he will also wear a lot to work - it looks that refined. One odd thing is that it's not indicated as a tall size, but he's 6'-6" with 37" sleeve length and the 2XL size fits him perfectly with even an extra inch in the sleeves - just the way he likes it. Hopefully these two will last for many more years.

Another very nice product from Icebreaker. Soft, warm, washable, good fit, etc. Only drawback is the lack of rear pockets. The top was sold as a cycling jersey but we all know cyclists love lots of pockets, especially back pockets for spare tub and other miscellaneous items. As long as it keeps me warm, I'm happy.

This is a great buy for merino wool and can be worn on the hunt, around town, or in the casual setting.
