When I got these socks, I was afraid they were too thick for an expert skier with custom boots. Thought they might be better for an occassional skier in rental boots who wants more sock and less boot feel. But the cushion is concentrated on the bottom of the foot, with less on top. So the thickness is about the same as other light weight ski socks, just distributed differently. Good end of season socks when your boots pack out and your really thin socks don't let your feet feel the boot anymore.

Thus far, I love the socks. My feet have stayed toasty and the socks have provided extra warmth for my calves. Because, I am 5'4 the socks are probably longer on me, I haven't had to wear an extra pant layer such as long johns.
The real test will be when I visit Montreal to stay in an ice hotel.

Icebreak makes great clothing and socks. These socks are very lightweight. I haven't tried them out extensively yet, but they will be great for spring days on the lifts. They are also nice for ski touring -- albeit my calves get a bit too toasty while skinning up hill.
