And I even read the reviews....but I have a really high arch & they are so stiff, cannot get them on because of that tongue.......which is too bad because I love my Icebug Hero but they are not waterproof hence my buying these....aarrgghhh

I purchased these shoes for walking on ice/icy sidewalks & streets as we get a ton of ice storms and snow that turns to ice in the Northeast. I have two dogs that pull hard so I must have traction when walking them. I also run (sometimes in inclimate weather) and wear orthotics. These shoes look good, are roomy (for thick wool socks), warm and durable. But, they are so uncomfy with no ability to adjust them due to a gusseted tongue and the rubbing around the tongue/gusseted opening would not stop (and as other reviewers said, they're VERY hard to get on). I couldn't even attempt to put an orthotic in because the shoes weren't deep enough (due to the tongue not moving in any direction) and the shoe material is very stiff with no "give" over the top of my foot to allow for a raised arch. In addition, I couldn't pull the laces tight enough once I got my foot in due to the tongue and overall stiffness of the shoe material. I sent them back for the "older" model (MR3s) which are SO MUCH BETTER & also less expensive. Both models have the same soles so I can walk on ice and my feet are comfortable in the MR3.

These sneakers are warm, do the job (no slipping) and are not bad looking and are comfortable enough in the right conditions. The shoe does not flex, my achilles needed to adjust, so I could not wear them two days in a row when I first got them.

These take a little getting used to. The sock fit which keeps your ankles dry makes it harder to put on, and can cause your toes to crowd if you don't pull the sock out at the toes to leave extra room. They are great, however,if you like to run on trails in adverse ground conditions, or if you are running or walking with dogs on slick surfaces.
They are a little stiff at the toe break, but I felt more secure than when using the attachable traction products that I have used before.

I use these on icy, unplowed rural roads in Alaska. They are terrific, durable shoes. They helped my plantar fasciitis also by being both very firm and cushioning...They take about a week to become accustomed to...but its worth the effort to get used to them. First, they are very different from other shoes: you MUST use a shoe horn to put them on and you have to work at that. They don't stretch, the soles are NOT soft and pillowy...AND you will NOT fall on your face, knees, hips or anything else if you keep a look-out for loose rocks or ice when you are running. My first pair, which I bought in Anchorage, Alaska lasted three years of LONG winters. At this price they are wonderful, cheap health insurance...
