Inov-8 Bare-X 180 Running Shoes - Minimalist (For Men and Women)

Closeouts. Inov-8's Bare-X 180 running shoes give the purist what he or she wants the most: to be as close to the ground as possible. You'll find no midsole here. The only thing between you and the road is a grippy Bare-Lite 3mm rubber outsole and a barely there 3mm foam footbed.

These shoes run at least a half size large. Ordered a 10.5 and it fit like an 11 or 11.5.

The shoe runs a little large, but it still fit extremely well (size 10). It gives my fore-foot plenty of room to splay properly as it should when running. This shoe is part of Inov'-8's road line, so it is not intended or built for trail running or scrambling. The shoe feels extremely lite on the feet. There is no cushioning, and a zero-degree drop, so the shoe runs like a good barefoot shoe should. The rubber underfoot is fairly thin so you get a good feel for the ground, but that makes the durability of the sole questionable. The rubber seems to have held up fairly well for the past month running 30-40 miles/week on sidewalks and asphalt. For those trying to choose between the Bare-X 180, and the Bare-X 150, the 150 is a MUCH lighter shoe, in weight and construction. I'm expecting to get maybe 150-200 miles out of them. That said, the perfect combo would be the 180 for training (the usual 500 mile life), and the 150 for my race day shoe. Hope this helps. :)

Very ligh on the feet, and great ankle support for lifting. Very little on the soles make it easier for lifting, but it makes it hard for running distance outdoors. I do personally love it for Crossfit.

I've worn these just a bit, so I need to qualify this review by saying I don't know how these will feel or wear over time. I've done just a bit of walking, hiking, and running in them. They're light and they've got some helpful stickiness on the sole so I wasn't sliding everywhere when we were scrambling on the rocks. They are more minimalist than other Inov-8 shoes, which means I can feel the ground beneath me a bit and I really like that. I went up in size to get the width and they were fine.

The shoe does not feel as "bare" as some other shoes that I have. I wear minimalist shoes almost exclusively and am always on the lookout for new technology. With these shoes I notice that I am a bit more insulated from the textures of the ground than I am with my Vivo or Merrill shoes. All in all a nice shoe, possibly a great shoe for someone who is still getting used to the barefoot feel.

I made a treadmill desk and wear these daily. I like the stability not being elevated on a bunch of foam. These things are so flexible they really exercise my feet muscles. You won't find a better deal for this type of shoe anywhere else. Loving STP deals!
