5.0 out of 5 stars. Unbeatable

I ordered this item in the brown/teal/white plaid color. It is a cotton-linen blend, although the linen content is so diminutive (a mere eight per-cent) so as to be negligible.

All the same, what is perhaps most surprising about this item is its plushness. We're all used to heavy wrinkling in cotton garments. This one won't have that problem; the fabric is very thick! The lapels in particular are cushion-like. All the same, it breathes very well and light shines through without any issue. Altogether, a slight mystery in how to combine thickness with lightness - and all the more impressive for it.

The only "negative" as such is regarding this particular color. It's rather loud, and although it can be combined just fine with any number of blues and browns, it would not be suited for a social event of any remote trace of seriousness whatsoever. It is fun, carefree, and bold - so, perfect summer jacket for taking out your honey, or sharing memories with friends at a barbecue. Just don't think this will look good in, for example, a church setting.

One further note should be made regarding the jacket's length. As another reviewer noted, it is rather short. I am a mere 5'6", and the regular length is just right for me. Something prospective buyers should definitely take into consideration.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Isaia at STP: Too Good to Pass Up
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from New York, NY on Wednesday, February 18, 2015
This review is for the striped cotton and linen blend fabric with patch hip pockets and barchetta breast pocket. What can I say? Though a fine pink-and-white stripe sports coat would not be my recommendation for one's sole spring sports coat, I have quite a few, so it adds another option for warm weather dressing. This coat was one of the older STP offerings, so has all of the luxury touches and was not created especially for the secondary market. The new management at STP obviously wanted the older stock moved out, so they aggressively priced this coat and I could not pass it up at such a deep discount. Isaia in 50EU fits me off the rack like it was made for me. I rarely need much tailoring. To get such details as floating canvas, horn buttons and hand-set sleeves for the price of a fused piece of garbage with plastic buttons makes me very happy! The only reason I held back a star is that this coat has single vents and was supposed to be double vented. Luckily, there is room in my wardrobe for a single-vented sports coat or two.

This product is in heavy rotation as part of my warm weather dress wardrobe. The fabric is very breathable, and the lack of lining makes it even more so. Such a comfortable-wearing garment removes the excuse to go without, even on the stuffier summer days. Additionally, the fabric blend does lend itself to wrinkling as badly as a pure linen summer jacket.

A note on fit: this is very much an Italian jacket in fit. I typically wear a 38s in U.S.-made jackets, but this Italian piece fits shorter in the body. I simply had to have my tailor shorten the sleeves and hand-sew working buttonholes.
