Closeouts. The thunder's boomed and the rain has arrived, but you're comfortably dry because you headed out to hike in Isis' Bernina Storm Shell pants.

I've worn these for hiking, doing barn chores, and for snowblowing. They are totally water / wind proof and very lightweight and comfortable. They do run a bit long. There is no elastic on the interior of the leg, but there is a rubbery strip on the inside of the cuff that grips your boot and prevents the bottom from riding up.

I bought these pants at the end of the winter season on sale. I plan on using them next snow season. I initially bought them for use cross-country skiing as a shell pant (these are not insulated). However, now that I see the design in person, it looks like these will also work as a downhill shell pant. These pants have the gripper elastic at the bottom hem of the pant which would secure them to a downhill boot. The only con that I see at this point is the pants may be too hot for cross-country skiing due to the waterproof design (may not be ventilated enough).

Pants are well made, durable, yet fashionable. Sizing is generous in areas most women need it. I have three large dogs who like the water; I can wear these pants, look OK and not get wet. I was delighted when I reached into the pocket and retrieved a note that read, "You are a Goddess"; made me smile.

These pants seem big in the waist and a bit bulky in fit. Also, become stiff in colder weather. I don't mean the bitter cold that turns my soft shell jacket stiff, I mean just cold weather (F in the 20s). I kept the pants as I need something to stand up to the strong winds of eastern Montana on my walk to work along with occasional rains in spring and fall.
