A nice addition to your 72 hour or bug-out kit. Knife is plenty sharp and the firesteel is locked-in to the knife handle. Typical functional plastic knife sheath, not exciting but it does the job. As my wife found out, be careful about where both your hands are when taking the knife out of the sh... Read More

The knife is sturdy enough and reasonably sharp. It probably wouldn't hold up to repeated heavy duty use (making kindling, etc.), but as a multi-purpose knife, it is solid. As others have mentioned, it is a little on the short side, but still usable for me. However, I have fairly small hands. I like the built in fire starter for those "just in case" situations. My only complaint is that the knife is loose in the sheath. I keep it in my camping bin and I am concerned that it will fall out and become loose in the bin and either damage something else in the bin or I will cut myself when going through the bin looking for something. Because of this, I will probably wrap it in something for storage.

Got this because a retired Forest Service back country guy carries one and likes it. Very impressed with Mora knives.

One of the best knifes ever for the price you will be very hard pressed to find a sharper more durable well thought out knife anywhere.
if you don't want the firestarter look at the companion for a few dollars less.

This knife is extremely well put together with only one thing in mind......Quality for life

  • Question “does the knife float?”

Asked on 12/29/2013 8:44:29 PM by Miles from Buffalo NY
    • Answer No.

In the interest of science, I filled up the kitchen sink and found the following for the Light-My-Fire-Swedish-Fireknife:
      Sheath by itself: Floats
      Knife by itself: Sinks
Knife + Fire Steel together: Sinks
Knife+ Fire Steel + Sheath: Sinks

      Hope this helps!
