I gave this to my spouse for Christmas, as he loves zippered cardigans and gets cold very easily. This one is perfect - I was worried about the sizing after reading some reviews, but it fits very well. The style is simple and thus goes with everything. The fabric is warm, not bulky and lightweight and the cardigan fits nicely underneath winter coats.

I've always preferred wool for its ability keep me warm even when it's wet. The boiled wool in this jacket is thinner than the heavy "army coat" jackets so it is more flexible and breathable. I use it as a single layer jacket under my gortex shell when skiing as well as everyday use.

This Ivanhoe jacket is very well made, light but warm. The boiled wool seems very high quality. It is an athletic fit item- be sure you read the sizing guide before ordering. I wear a 41 suit jacket and the size L just fit though it is sized 41-43 on the guide. Highly recommended.

The boiled wool is the the main attraction here - it's very warm, and has a great texture. I got "charcoal," which is almost imperceptibly lighter than Ivanhoe's "black." (If it were a bit lighter in color, that would be an improvement.) I have a somewhat athletic build and the chest was snug but adequate. The mid section was slightly looser, but it's definitely best for slim builds. It seems also that the pattern might have been changed slighly since the STP photo was taken and since the other reviews on here were written: I have somewhat long arms but the sleeves were more than adequate in length and I wear them rolled up a couple of inches. Also, compared to the STP photo, the length of the garment is longer in relation to the sleeves. I think the shape of the garment and the lack of pockets makes it most suitable for layering and I plan to wear it under a charcoal heather car coat on winter trips to colder locations.

Me: 5'7"/155lbs/Broad Shoulders/32" waist/42" chest. Large fits me perfectly - chest, shoulders/back, sleeve, hem, neck (when fully zipped up). Nice slim euro fit; not boxy like American stuff. I could see the arms being too short for taller folks. Don't expect to be able to wear this against bare skin - it's itchy. I wore a light mesh polyester t-shirt (Salomon X-Tee) underneath in a steady light rain at 45-degreesF and was comfortable - not hot, not cold. Water beaded up and didn't soak the garment. I don't see the lack of pockets as a negative as this is really a layering piece that can double as outerwear in milder winter conditions. I usually don't care for the size and positioning of the pockets from the factory anyway. This way I can have them added later and to my liking.

Very nice product and quality. Would have kept it but the fit is for a slender build.
