“I really wanted to like these shoes...”

“I readily admit that the price drove me to purchase these shoes. I knew as soon as I tried them on that there was not enough arch support for me. While I very much liked the look there were a few things that would have concerned me had I kept them: 1. It has a low heel compared to what I have been wearing (Columbia Trail Meisters - wish I'd bought an extra pair!) and there was heel slippage just walking around the house. 2. Regarding others' comments about the toe box, it felt snug, but not tight. I always wear Thorlo brand padded socks so that may explain the snugness. I also wear Earth brand casual shoes so any other toe box feels somewhat restrictive by comparison. 3. As other reviewers have also mentioned, the lacing system looked flimsy. This was difficult to judge from the online photos. I prefer actual eyelets rather than slim straps to hold the laces. The combination of woven fabric on one side and thin leather on the other side just didn't seem sturdy enough but, since I'm returning them without any long-term wear, I can't properly judge the durability of the lacing system. Looking through the available shoes in my size I am replacing them with the Vasque Blur trail running shoes and will review them as well.”
