I ordered the 42 S , my usual size and it was too short and a little tight so I exchanged it for the 42R and it was a perfect fit. Only the sleves need to be shortened a bit. The material is a refined lightweight hopsack with a bit of stretch. Very nice and very comfortable

Nice jacket but not as heavy as I thought it would be. Should be fine for less formal business.

The quality of the material on this jacket is very good. It is easily better than a Jos A Bank 'Yraveler' quality blazer. It is not a Super 130 or 140 material, so be realistic regarding what you are looking for in a blazer. This one strikes the right tone for me: excellent business quality without shouting. The cut is 'classic' meaning on the full side. I have having it taken in a tad. It is exactly what I was looking for and am pleased with this purchase,

  • Question “Hi, could someone tell me the length of the jacket in sz 38R, as measured along the back from the bottom of the collar to the bottom hem? Also, any other fit differences beside the length between the 38S and the 38R? Thanks for any info”
Asked on 8/9/2012 12:00:00 AM by Hopsackalong Cassidy from San Francisco, CA
  • Question “What is a hopsack fabric? I have a Jack Victor wool suit that is a very fine fabric.”
Asked on 12/13/2011 12:00:00 AM by Love expensive quality not prices from Los Angeles
    • Answer Hopsack is the name of the coat. The material used in the coat is wool.
Answered on 12/14/2011 12:00:00 AM by Prod. Spec. Ryan from Sierra Trading Post
    • Answer I disagree with the former answer - hopsack is a specific texture to the wool fabric. The weave is not meant to be smooth as you would find in a gabardine or worsted. It's closer to the texture of the bags that are used to ship raw coffee beans, but much more carefully woven and without any nubbiness or loose strands. It has been a traditional texture in menswear for over a hundred years.
Answered on 6/2/2012 12:00:00 AM by Crotty of Carlisle from Denver, CO
    • Answer Hopsack is not the name of the blazer. Hopsack is a type of fabric weave that is looser and coarser than your JV suit. The texture gives it the appearance of small squares on the fabric. It is often a bit more breathable as well, potentially making it better-suited to warmer weather.

    • Answer Hopsack is the weave of the wool fabric. If you have a large screen monitor an zoom in you will see the texture.
