Maybe the best shoes I've ever owned

These shoes are in contention for the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn (not including my Teva sandals.) I have been a runner for almost 20 years and appreciate easy to wear, comfortable shoes that don't jolt me with pain (foot, knee, back) with every step. I have wide feet only in the sense that I have bunions and need a roomy toe box, or at least a shoe that is not restrictive across that portion of my foot. Otherwise, I probably have a very average foot width. I also appreciate a solid sole for shock absorption and shoes that don't rub my bony ankles. Cannot wear heels as they put such excruciating pressure on those dang bunions, arches and toes.
That said, the Jambu Cherry Mesh Sandals are perfect for me. The soles are very dense and shock absorbing (not "cushy," but firm.) The toe box is roomy enough for my bunions and hammer toe, but they don't look too wide or in any way orthapedic (though they feel that way!) I have high arches and usually like more arch support, but for some reason these feel great! They almost feel a bit like the way Earth brand shoes are designed...lower at the heel and a bit higher in the front. The strap is only minimally adjustable, but they seem to work fine for me...the straps all around keep the shoe securely in place and are also low enough not to rub on my ankle bones. None of the fabric or straps rub on my skin in any way. They are not at all clunky but seem substantial and cushioning. Probably not durable for serious hiking, though they seem non-slip, have a pretty good tread and a nice rubber toe. I'm not sure how tough and long-lasting the fabric will turn out to be...the straps are relatively thin, but that makes them a bit more stylish than a serious sport sandal. For me, I see them as great walking around, everyday-type shoe that are a sporty looking, casual, just a bit dressier option than my Tevas.

Please be aware that these shoes DO run small. I normally wear a 9 and ordered a 9.5 (the box was labelled a European 40.5...isn't a women's 9.5 usually comparable to a European 41?) Anyway, the shoe definitely runs short...the 9.5 length is JUST long enough for me. I noticed after wearing them for a few days that the toe box has loosened up a bit, allowing my foot to slide forward and so my heel is now not so close to the back end of the shoe. With all that in mind, the sizing ended up fitting well for me. I don't think this shoe would work for someone with a truly wide foot as it has a rather slim profile, almost delicate for a sport shoe. I have only worn these without socks, and I imagine they would be too small, both in length and width, for anything but the very thinnest of socks (unless you have very narrow feet.)

I hope this info is helpful for anyone looking for a comfy, casual step up in style from a sport sandal. Feet are so different from person to person, but these fit my particular foot type very well.

Cheers to you all!
