They're comfortable to stand in and to walk in, but as other reviewers have noted, the black straps are really tight. I don't have a high instep, and they're tight. I broke a shoe horn trying to get them on. The bands only stretch at the ends, not all the way across. They look great on. This is one pair of shoes that my narrow heels won't slip out of when I walk.

I had hoped to use these as my walking sandals this summer in Italy, but I had to return them.
