As others have said, the weave is intentionally loose and the sweater is baggy, so, if stretched, you will get a sense of what color shirt is underneath...but that is typical of this sweater. The wool is soft and delicate..quite comfortable. Be aware, it does run large as others have said. I normally wear a large...medium fit just fine with room to spare. On sale, it is a great buy

Definitely a step up from the mall-brand sweaters I used to buy. It's definitely not a slim fit, but the medium didn't seem too roomy for my 40" chest and 32" waste. It's scratchier than the other Peregrine sweaters I've bought, so if that bothers you, plan to wear it over long sleeves. I ordered it in green and liked it so much I'm coming back for a brown.
