J.G. Glover Londoner Jacket - Waxed Cotton (For Women)

I liked this coat--the fabric, the cut, the general look of it. But the high neck only works if the collar is never buckled close. One can either turn the collar down completely, or let it stand upright (which is quite warm); but the design of the neck is so tight and narrow that it is impossible to actually close it. I returned the jacket.

As everyone has noted, the neck on this jacket doesn't make sense. It is lined with a cheap sweater material that is too bulky. I brought mine to my dry cleaner and had that material removed, and I had it lined instead with a gray plaid flannel. Now it looks fabulous. I still can't button up the neck all the way, but it looks pretty down, unlike how it looked before.

I am very pleased with this jacket. My husband has a waxed cotton jacket from Barbour and this is similar in quality. I much prefer this style to any of the Barbour styles for women. It's great for cool, damp weather!

We bought this jacket specifically for walking about in the seattle weather. The quality of the jacket is excellent, good detailing, lining and fit. It has an inside pocket! The jacket fits well around the hips, not tight or bulky. The only reason we didn't give this jacket 5 stars is because of the funny collar, which is better fit for a very slim neck. However, the collar lining is still warm. A great jacket I expect to keep around for quite a while.

One of the best designs for a casual jacket I've seen in a long time BUT I don't get the collar. I have a long neck and when the collar is done up the comfort level is zip. I look like E.T. Needless to say the collar will remain open when I wear it. I'm keeping it in spite of the neck-stretching collar - the rest of it is awesome.

This jacket has a weird, tight neck fit. If you don't care about buttoning it up all the way, you are good to go. If you do want to buckle up at the top, it is too tight. Weird design, but great fit otherwise. I have been wearing it every rainy day and ignoring the buckles and ties at the top.

Nice jacket. Comments about the high collar. If you look at their website the photo with the jacket shows the model wearing it open. The straps seem to be about the overall look of the jacket and not actually meant to be used to strap the neck closed. Now, if the neck didn't have the wool collar, you could probably close it comfortably. Could live without the wool collar, but it does keep your neck warm. Overall happy with jacket.

I've been looking for something more tailored and better material than my functional "modern" but unavoidably goofy looking, boxy, poly, bright yellow rain jacket. And this looks like it'll fit the bill just fine. Waxed cotton gets the job done, but doesn't feel like you're in a plastic garbage bag. Classy tailored style looks somewhat vintage, which I like and prefer. Nice dark tartan lining. Solid construction. I'd read the reviews on the collar ahead of time, so wasn't surprised. I have a very lean, long neck - so figured I could get away with it. But just barely! I still have nearly an inch gap up front when up and comfortably buckled shut. A strange oversight in design and a shame cause the collar up looks great. I'll still be wearing it up, but would advise others to take the caution seriously - or be content to wear the collar down, which would be fine under most conditions anyway. All told, a fine jacket. You can imagine yourself walking the moors in it. Or stylishly putting back a pint in a warm pub.

I live in Reno and it gets very cold in winter sometimes. This jacket is warm without being bulky and flatters my figure as opposed to other heavy winter coats that can make me look bigger than I am. It looks great on and and I love the european style. It runs a tad small in my opinion, maybe that's due to it's European make. I'm typically a Large but ordered an XL and it was perfect. I wouldn't normally close the collar but if I did, I agree with other reviewers that it's way too tight. However, I typically wear the jacket with a scarf anyway & collar down. It looks great down and sort of frames the neck and shoulder area.

I got this jacket and a double Breasted Barbour jacket which I kept--this one felt too small, and the collar was too high--no way would I be able to buckle it. Had to return this one...
