Joan Vass Shirtwaist Dress - Cotton Poplin, Sleeveless (For Women)

I loved the style of this in the catalog, but was very disappointed when I received the item. I am 5'8" and this dress was very short in all its proportions. I was also disappointed in the fabric and construction. I expected much higher quality with a dress in this price range.

Be aware that this dress is a "tent" style, not fitted at all. It would be very comfortable to wear. The fabric is somewhat sheer cotton and would need ironing to stay crisp. You should wear a half slip to avoid see-through in the skirt. I chose to return it due to the above "cons".

This is the "perfect" dress, dress it up with pearls and pumps, wear it to a picnic with flats and a light colored cardigan. The trapeze cut with the tie-belt to create definition makes the dress super comfortable, yet elegant.

Dress is very nice. High quality item. Very Flattering. Comfortable, wish I could wear it every day.

The waist is too high and the dress just looked "frumpy" on me. I liked the retro look but had to return this item.

I'm not thrilled with this but I kept it because it's such an easy piece to wear, cool and breezy for hot weather. Throw it on, and you're dressed! I gave it just three stars because the fabric could be higher quality, it's very light-weight polished cotton, almost see-through, and I wouldn't wear this to the office. But perfect for country weekends. Self belt looks boring, add your own to make the dress pop. Very flattering design, hides tummy bulges and wobbly thighs, but does expose those upper arms!
