    I have never had boots with a metatarsal guards before. They are very unusual visually. I have not had an occassion to need the guard yet but find them reassuring at least.

    OUt of the box they seem like nice boots. They fit and the the leather seems like nice quality. They are odd looking with the hard but I bought them for working with a chainsaw and brush cutting.
