The fabric is really thin.

Great quality but the Scots are clearly skinny folks - these sweaters run small, so order one size larger for comfort.

This item arrived today in the dark blue color. Consistent with the reviews given (thanks btw) it is best to order this about a size larger than the size you would normally buy in a suit. I wear a 44R suit. I bought this in a 46, and it is a good fit. Had I bought a 44, it would likely have been too small unless I was going for the sausage-casing look. This is a classic, well-made sweater produced by old-World European craftsmen. There is so much garbage being produced in sweatshops around the world with creative European-sounding brand names that it is just really refreshing to find an item that has some tradition to it. I will say that if I had bought this at the full price, or if I had seen this at the full price, I would have thought long and hard about buying it. At the full price one could find some very nice sweaters indeed. At the discounted price, this is a very nice alternative to the Shetland and lambswool sweaters on the market, very few of which really are Shetland, and even fewer of which are European made. The simplicity of the weave allows this to be mated with a wide variety of shirts and sportsjackets. Texture and patterns are nice, but they also complicate such issues. I am happy with the purchase, may consider buying another in a different color, but would certainly encourage you to buy if you have been looking at this item as I was for a long period of time.

This sweater exceeded my expectations.

Ridiculously undersized. I normally take a size 46 long. Being forewarned I ordered a size 48 which was must too small. I returned it for a size 50 which fits my size 46 long body perfectly. Unfortunately I had to pay to return the misized item. Note that color "burlwood" is somewhat murky and can be worn only with light tan or white trousers. Looks terrible with black, blue or grey. Finally note that the v-neck model has an impossibly small opening and very high neck. Stick with the crew neck

I wear a 33-34 sleeve. The fit through the shoulders and sleeve length are perfect.

My husband has worn Scottish and English lambswool sweaters for some 20 years. We looked forward to this sweater that you so highly praised. We have returned it. It was atrocious: scratchy, weird shape, bad neckline, poorly blocked. I can't imagine its ever selling at the original price. We recently bought far superior quality lambswool V-necks in Paris for less than your sale price, and this with a weak dollar. While we enjoy the excellent savings that Sierra Trading offers us, their buyers would do better to carefully examine these opportunistic purchases to make sure that they are actually salable at any price. We have lost a good measure of faith in the quality of your products.

It seems well made, densely knitted wool sweater, good quality. The V-neck is high, almost a crew neck. I had to return it, however, because it runs quite small. I usually wear a 42-44 and the 46 was a full size too small.

Runs a little small, so order the next size up. Great all around sweater for any event.
