Closeouts. If Donegal tweed sounds a bit heavy for business attire, you haven't experienced the John Varvatos Star USA touch. This light wool sport coat has an outstandingly soft finish and is partially lined for comfortable wear.

Got the donegal in dark brown, 42R, my usual size (I'm 6-2, 190lbs). The shoulders were too wide and bulky (trending towards "m.c. hammer time" from the 1980's!). I have pretty wide shoulders, so that was surprising. Also this is really not a slim fit suit. Plenty of room and would have required significant tailoring, which would have added a lot to the cost of the jacket. So back to STP it went. The suit is made in mexico; it is fused, not canvassed (no surprise there at this price point). I thought the fabric seemed high quality although not really a donegal in my book (no variation in thread color). So a decent quality suit, but more of a classic, rather than modern cut.

I ordered the Donegal tweed in black/taupe, size 36R. It looks extremely sharp, fits exactly, and seems very well made. The sleeves were plenty long, easily taken in by my tailor, who called it "black and white." I call it dark gray tweed. It's a very good looking piece of clothing, goes well with a decent pair of dress pants, and probably will work with a pair of jeans. I was sufficiently impressed that I ordered another Varvatos in a different color & fabric. I think it's possibly my nicest jacket, and certainly was a bargain.
